Opportunities

We welcome researchers who are deeply interested in uncovering the mechanisms by which O-GlcNAcylation regulates protein function and, in turn, cellular physiology. Our team brings together diverse expertise in glycobiology, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, cell biology, neuroscience, and biochemistry.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community that values diversity in background and life experience, and is free from discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or religious beliefs. Together, we strive to cultivate a culture that embraces all perspectives, promotes belonging and collaboration, and advances equity in science

Undergraduate/Masters Students

We welcome undergraduate and master’s students currently enrolled at the Johns Hopkins University who are interested in exploring the role of glycans in regulating protein function and their impact on cell physiology and disease. If you’re interested in joining our lab, please email Dr. Zachara your curriculum vitae and transcript, or apply through ForagerOne.

Graduate Students

We welcome students from all eligible graduate programs. If you are interested in a laboratory rotation, please reach out to Dr. Zachara after you have been admitted to one of the following programs:

BCMB (https://bcmb.bs.jhmi.edu)
PMB (https://pmb.jhu.edu)
XDBio (https://xdbio.jhmi.edu)

Prospective students can find more information about these programs on the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Graduate Programs page. (https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/som/education-programs/graduate-programs/programs).

Postdoctoral fellows

At this time, we are not actively recruiting postdoctoral fellows. However, we’re always excited to connect with scientists who share our passion for understanding O-GlcNAc biology and its impact on cellular physiology. We encourage you to check back in the future, as opportunities may arise.

We are located in the Department to Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
